Our latest day of filming saw the Dark Goddess finally brought to life in the wonderful shape of actress Sarah Kershaw. Sarah, a trained actress, relished being the villain for the day's shoot: 'It was a lot of fun,' she says, 'and I can't wait to get started on other scenes and really get into the role of the show's arch villain.
The scene we shot was a complex one, with multiple set-ups and difficult angles, but director Paul Donnelly felt it went well. 'I always like to challenge myself by adding some awkward shots!' says Paul. 'The most difficult ones for this scene were high-angle shots overlooking the action, which took a bit of doing.'
The scene involved the Dark Goddess dishing out some lashings on her hapless henchman, Lord Fenn. In the scene, Fenn is required to strip off and take several lashings from the Dark Goddess' energy whip (it is a Star Wars/Flash Gordon-inspired project after all!), and for this, Sarah had some training from a real-life 'Master' on how to use a whip properly.
Filming will resume after Christmas.
